As you may be aware, October is Cyber Security Awareness Month. Initiated in the US by the National Cyber Security Division within the Department of Homeland Security and the nonprofit National Cyber Security Alliance, the campaign has caught the imagination and attention of citizens and organisations in recent years.
On this side of the Atlantic, the European Cyber Security Month (ECSM) has the same goals: to raise awareness of cyber security threats, to promote cyber security among citizens and organisations and to provide resources for people and organisations to protect themselves online through education and the sharing of good practices.
With cyber security awareness given a significant boost by this important campaign, the scene was set for an exciting series of sessions in Switzerland, under the auspices of the Kickstart innovation programme.
Our executive team travelled to Zurich and Bern to exhibit, pitch and network at several events. Executive Chairman Steve Berry spoke about integrated risk management at a FinTech session on October 8. The following day CTO Shadi A. Razak (right) delivered a comprehensive pitch, focusing on our Integrated Risk Management platform CyDesk. The Kickstart Collaborative Sprint continues until November 8. On Thursday, managers Natalia Dzyuba and Mark Beahm attended the Digital Transformation EXPO Europe conference at ExCeL London. Among the many thought-provoking demos and speakers, they took in Russian chess champion Garry Kasparov, who spoke about the evolution – and the ethics – of AI. Kasparov – who once played IBM’s Deep Blue computer – is now a brand ambassador for Avast Security Software.
Before they headed for Switzerland, our executive team – and the team as a whole – received the great news that we have been shortlisted in three categories for the prestigious Computing Security Excellence Awards. We are competing against tough opposition in the categories of Risk Management, Security Automation and SME Security Solution. It’s the second year in a row that we have made it to finals. The winners will be announced at a gala event in London on November 21.
It’s been quite a week!
