Digital transformation is underway in businesses of every size and type, but without a corresponding digital risk management strategy, such transformations can also expose vulnerabilities. The current issue facing Norwegian aluminium producer Hydro may provide an object lesson of why digital risk management solutions, of the type offered by CyNation, are needed.
The attack took place on Monday night and has not been resolved at the time of writing. The local Norwegian media has speculated that it may have been caused by a new form of ransomware – LockerGoga – but Hydro has yet to confirm or deny this.
At the moment, the company has switched to manual operation and has warned employees not to use their work computers. Updates on the situation are being posted on Facebook.
